Boris Cherny, creator of Anthropic’s Claude Code, says he hasn’t written a line of code by hand in months. He shipped 22 pull requests in the future, 27 the subsequent, all AI-generated. Firm-wide, Anthropic stories that 70 to 90% of its code is now written by AI. CEO Dario Amodei has predicted that AI may deal with “most, perhaps all” of what software program engineers do inside months.
And but Anthropic sometimes has dozens of software engineering openings, one reportedly carrying $570K in whole compensation. As one observer noted, the corporate is concurrently predicting the top of the occupation and paying prime greenback to rent into it.
In the meantime, throughout his GTC 2026 keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang mentioned that 100% of NVIDIA now makes use of AI coding instruments, together with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, typically all three. Then, in a dialog on the All-In Podcast throughout GTC week, Huang sharpened the purpose: A $500,000 engineer who doesn’t devour no less than $250,000 in AI tokens yearly is like “certainly one of our chip designers who says, guess what, I’m simply going to make use of paper and pencil.”
